WTAPRS14: Made in USA!

The WTAPRS14 wind turbine is assembled in the USA and is made primarily from USA made components. We have invested heavily to eliminate non-USA components. Our aluminum is melted is the USA, machined in the USA, anodized in the USA, and assembled in the USA. Our permanent magnet generator is assembled in the USA from USA components. Many of the machine shops and component manufacturers are located within convenient driving distance of APRS World, allowing us to interact face-to-face with those manufacturers.

The primary non-USA made components in the WTAPRS14 are the bearings, bushings, and small hardware. We have tried to source domestic or European bearings, but have been unable to locate a source of the high performance / low-drag bearings we use. We use Igus bushings in the yaw and they are made in Europe. For the quick attach blade turbines the locking handles are also made in Europe. Much of the small hardware used is actually made in the USA, but due to it's commodity nature it is hard to ascertain the true country of origin. In all cases we try to be certain that no Chinese hardware is used.
